Black Wall Street, the night of May 31, and the morning it burned. The history behind Dream Land, and the search for the missing that is still going on.
Sourced
Every fact in the narration is tied to a source: state commissions, the Justice Department, archives and reporting. Where the record is disputed, the film says so.
Archive first
Real photographs carry the real people. Reconstructions only show places, crowds and objects. We don’t put AI faces on the people who lived it.
Beneath the story
Each Root pairs with a Strange Fruit episode. Watch the history, then the story it inspired, or the other way around.
More roots are coming. Meanwhile, watch the episodes.
